Nói đến bánh quy, người Anh quen dùng từ "biscuit" trong khi người Mỹ dùng từ "cookie".

Khoai tây chiên là "chips" trong tiếng Anh - Anh và là "french fries" trong tiếng Anh - Mỹ.

Đối với khoai tây chiên lát mỏng như bim bim, người Anh dùng từ "crisps" còn người Mỹ dùng từ "potato chips".
